Visa Information

Overseas veterinary surgeons looking to work in the UK have several visa options, primarily centred around skilled work.
Here are a few key visa routes to consider:

Skilled Worker Visa:

This is by far the most common route for overseas veterinary surgeons. To qualify, you must have a job offer from a UK employer that holds a valid sponsorship license.

Your job must meet the skill requirements and you must be offered a minimum salary, usually £26,200 or the going rate for your job, whichever is higher.

You will need to prove your English language proficiency.

This visa is aimed at highly skilled individuals in specific fields. Veterinary surgeons who can demonstrate exceptional talent or promise in their field may be eligible. Applicants must be endorsed by an approved UK organisation.

Health and Care Worker Visa:

If you have a job offer as a veterinarian and your role is listed in the eligible occupations, you might qualify for this visa, which offers reduced visa fees and other benefits. The employer must be a registered sponsor and the role must meet the skill and salary requirements.

Graduate Visa:

If you’ve recently completed a degree in the UK, this visa allows you to stay in the UK for at least 2 years to work or look for work after graduation.

Temporary Worker Visa (Youth Mobility Scheme):

If you're from a country that has a youth mobility agreement with the UK, this visa allows you to live and work in the UK for up to 2 years.

Find a Job: Secure a job offer from a UK employer who is able to sponsor you.
